NORTH SMITHFIELD - Marcel Toupin, 67, passed away on August 13, 2024 at Landmark Hospital.

Marcel was born on February 13, 1957, in Woonsocket, RI, to the late Lea Toupin (Blain) and Louis Toupin.

Marcel turned his entrepreneurial spirit and love of cars into a lifelong career. Although he was known as the go-to car guy, what he will be remembered for is his passion for music and making people feel better. In the 80s he was the bass guitarist for the band Witz End, playing shows at venues and festivals throughout New England. After the band separated, he continued playing on his own, with friends, and in various other bands, playing gigs all the way up until 2023. Whether he was playing with a band, pulling out his harmonica in random places to lighten the mood, or passing out flowers to acquaintances, Marcel was always on a mission to make people smile.

He is survived by his daughters, who were his pride and joy, Heather Carriere, of Dudley, MA, and Trish Coffield, of Ramstein, Germany, along with his son-in-laws, Mike Carriere and Matthew Coffield, his grandchildren, William 'JJ' Vanskike Jr., Lea Vanskike, Brady Carriere, Ashlyn Coffield, and Olivia Coffield, his nieces Diane Poljacik, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kim Toupin, of Woonsocket, and nephew Eric Hubert, of Connecticut.

Along with his parents, he is pre-deceased by his wife, Linda Letourneau, his brothers Louis Toupin, and Roger Toupin, and his nephew Roger Toupin Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at on Sunday, Sep 1 at St. Joseph's Veteran's Association in Woonsocket, RI. Join us for music and light refreshments as we share memories and honor his life.
