Mary Myrtle Roach

1926 - 2016

ATTLEBORO - Mrs. Mary Myrtle (Smith) Roach, 89, of South Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 6th, at the Life
Care Center of Attleboro. She was born on November 8, 1926, in Hope Township, Midland, Michigan, and was the daughter of the late William James Smith Sr. and Christina (Dick) Smith.
She married the love of her life, Louis B. Roach Jr., on July 19th, 1952, and shared the next forty-two and a half years together before his death in January of 1995. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, four sisters and five brothers.
Mary is survived by her three children: Hon. Christine M. Roach of Boston, David L. Roach and his spouse Gabrielle Stapleton Roach of Leverett, and Linda A. Roach and her spouse Felice L. Reitknecht of Sayre, Pennsylvania, as well as four grandchildren: Elizabeth Stapleton Hill, Adam Roach, Samantha Roach-Gerber, and Sofia Reitknecht Harris, and two great-granddaughters, Irene and Aurora Hill. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her dear sister-in-law, Annie Smith of Troy, Michigan.
Private funeral services will be held, with internment to follow in the Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program of Bristol Elder Services, 1 Father DeValles Boulevard, Unit 8, Fall River, MA 02723; or the Life Care Center of Attleboro, 969 Park St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
