Mary A. Sarlin

MILLVILLE - Mary A. (Britt) Sarlin, 94, previously of Chestnut Hill Rd. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Overlook Nursing Home surrounded by family. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Frank W. Sarlin. She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Erickson of Millville; 3 grandchildren, Melanie King, Kevin Doherty and David Doherty; 5 great grandchildren Cailee King, Luke Doherty, David Doherty, Jr., Ryan Doherty, and Colin Doherty; 2 sisters Barbara A. Littlefield of N. Smithfield and Lorraine Eames of Winter Haven, FL. She was also predeceased by a daughter Sheila M. Doherty in 2001, 5 brothers, David Britt, Russell Britt, John Britt, Donald Britt and William Britt; 4 sisters Florence L'Esperance, Hazel Poissant, Eileen Paige, and Theresa Bartlett.
Born in Millville on Aug. 15, 1922 she was the daughter of Patrick and Lydia (Bertrand) Britt and proudly lived in Millville all her life. Mary was a graduate of Blackstone High School, Class of 1940 and secretarial school in Providence. She worked for W.T. Grant Dept. Store, Uniroyal Rubber in Woonsocket, RI and for the Town of Millville as the Assistant Town Clerk for 22 years until retiring in 1992. She was also a Notary Public and Justice of the Peace. Mary was past treasurer for the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a life-long member of St. Augustine's Church where she served on the bereavement committee. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and spending time with her family. She also had many friends and enjoyed going to the Millville Senior Center. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Her funeral will be held from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Sat. Dec. 3 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church, Millville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Fri. Dec. 2 from 4 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 N. Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760.
