Mary Ellen Stanton

BRISTOL - Mary Ellen Stanton, 83, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Riley) Stanton of Pawtucket. Mary, in her early years, was a resident of the Pawtucket and Rumford areas before adventuring off to California, Connecticut and finally returning to reside in North Smithfield.

After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Pawtucket, she earned her (CPS) as a Certified Professional Secretary and went on to a career as an administrative assistant and office manager for several local businesses. She retired in 2006. Mary enjoyed music, travel, the beach and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her thoughtful generosity and love toward her family, and especially having a "quick wit."

Mary is survived by her sister, Eileen V. Pietraszka of Bristol, and her sister-in-law, Barbara V. (Vigent) Stanton of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late John J. Stanton.

She is lovingly remembered as "Aunt Mary" by all her nieces and nephews: Eileen A. Sawyer and her husband, Raymond, of Pawtucket, Julian A. Peters of Pawtucket, Edith M. Barry and her husband, Michael, of Pawtucket, Thomas J. Pietraszka (deceased) and his wife, Leslie Silva Pietraszka of Pawtucket, Leslie A. Peters, of Fort Lauderdale, FL and David A. Pietraszka and his wife, Gina Springer Pietraszka, of Westerly. Mary also leaves 17 great nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen will be warmly remembered by all her family and dear friends whose lives she touched in so many ways.
