Normand was a member of the National Guard in RI in his early married life. In his trade he was a toolmaker for multiple companies, ultimately retiring from Texas Instruments after over 20 years of service. Relied on to fix anything, admired by his peers, and endeared to the employees on the line.

As a scratch golfer, he won many championships, and enjoyed playing courses all over the world with his wife Sue and friends. He enjoyed poker nights, and was a skilled handicapper at the track. He loved his family and looked forward to visits and calls filled with love and laughter.

Along with his wife Suzanne, he leaves their children; Celeste Gentile of Smithfield, Christine Cloutier and her husband, Dr. James Cloutier of North Smithfield, Carolyn Solari and her husband, Donald Solari of Attleboro, and Scott Gauthier of Attleboro; as well as his ten grandchildren, Eric, Angela, and Hope Gentile; Julia, Austin, Jessica, and Lauren Cloutier; Adriana, Andrew, and Ryan Solari; his nephew Glen Gauthier; and three nieces, Michelle Gauthier, Danielle Santello and Lucie Prudhomme. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Gauthier.

His funeral will be held Friday April 12, 2024 at 9am from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Thursday, April 11, from 4-7pm.
