It is said that cousins are our first friends and I believe that to be true. Growing up with our Renell-Phillips-Mahan families has special memories for me.....playing in the driveway on Barnard Street (with the screen door locked so we would stay outside!), Christmas dinners at the kids' table, always banished to the 'den', camping together with our families, and then as adults to share the joyous moments of having and raising children of our own. Your kind heart is what I will remember most my cousin and I am oh so sorry for Jean, Heather, Rick, Keith, Kimberly, Mike, and Kevin and most especially, your Mom. I'm glad we were able to spend some time together this past month and I will keep those memories close as I have all the others. May the reunion in heaven with so many of our loved ones be a blessed one this week.

The Adams children were blessed living next door to all of the Phillips family on Englewood Ave. I distinctly remember the joy we ALL felt when poppa Phillips got home from work each day. His love of family and life was infectious. He made every Englewood Ave kid feel special. The most remarkable gift he elicited was that all of his song inherited this trait. No matter the Phillips son? You knew you were blessed to be in their presence. The world lost another remarkable man today. The solace is that he will have his poppa and his brother to greet him with immediacy as they left this life much too soon. Rest In Peace Ricky. My family and I are praying for the comfort of your entire family.

Ricky was a true friend of mine and part of the Linwood, Englewood neighborhood kids that played together for years. Ricky was a great drummer and taught me how to play. All of the Phillips were great people and it saddens my heart to see him pass away so young.RIP Ricky. Love ya bro
