Robert F. Grenier Sr.

WOONSOCKET - Robert F. Grenier Sr., 87, of Woonsocket, RI passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9th at the VA Medical Center, Providence, RI with his loving family by his side. He is the beloved husband for 63 years of Claudette E. (Giguere) Grenier. He is the loving father of Christine J. Martinelli and her husband, Leo, Paula L. Grenier and Robert F. Grenier Jr., all of Blackstone, MA. He leaves his cherished grandchildren Drew R. Martineau of Bellevue, WA, Stephanie M. Martinelli and her partner, Eddie Ramos of Orlando, FL, Leo R. Martinelli of Blackstone, MA, and great-granddaughters Elizabeth G. and Emma L. Ferguson.

Bob was born in Bellingham, MA on March 12, 1938, the son of the late Norbert J. and Helene (Gazaille) Grenier. He is the brother of Claire Champagne and her husband, Marcel of Bellingham, MA, Pauline Rondeau of North Attleboro, MA, Lillian Freelove and her husband, Howard of Warwick, RI, and his late siblings, Lucille Laferriere, Norbert Grenier and his wife Terry, Jeanne Beauchamp, Leo Grenier and his wife Suzanne, Paulette Lussier, Alice Bouchard and her husband Pierre, and Roland Grenier and his wife Donna. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

He was a United States Navy Veteran having proudly served and retired after 20 years with the rank of MM1 with his last duty on the USS Puget Sound. He received the Good Conduct Medal (Three Awards) National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Veterans Association, Woonsocket, RI.

Bob was a longtime resident of Woonsocket formerly of Bellingham where he was raised. He worked as a Marine Mechanic for Bird Machine, Walpole, MA from 1974 to 2000 until retiring. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and camping visiting many military installations. Bob will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 9AM from Cartiers Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, May 14th from 5PM to 7PM at the funeral home.
