Roger A. Heroux

1948 - 2023

WOONSOCKET - Roger A. Heroux, 75, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Cumberland and Woonsocket, RI, passed away on October 24, 2023 at the Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC. He is the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Boschen) Heroux. He is the loving father of Jason R. Heroux and his wife, Kelly of Cranston, RI and Melissa L. Phaneuf of Dayville, CT. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Aiden Kirkland, Ava Kirkland, Jason R. Heroux Jr., Tyler Sousa and Nevaeh Sousa.

Roger was born in Woonsocket, RI on September 14, 1948, the son of the late Albert and Marie (Parenteau) Heroux. He is the brother of Madeleine Grondines of Summerville, SC, Jackie Dorval of Ft. Myers, FL, and the late Roland Heroux, Claire Belair, and Pauline Heroux. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Roger was a resident of Summerville, SC for the past 7 years formerly of Cumberland and Woonsocket, RI where he was raised and lived for many years. He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy Class of 1966. He worked at Greystone in Lincoln, RI as a toolmaker for almost 50 years until retiring.

Roger was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam War Veteran attaining the rank of Corporal. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle M-14 Sharpshooter.

Roger was a proud parent, husband and former marine as well as toolmaker. He was a very successful and humble man, who in his free time loved working in his garden and working on his home. He knew the value of time, as he spent it with his friends and family every chance he could. He loved driving fast and listening to Journey while doing so. He enjoyed playing softball. He had a passion for collecting crystal, the race car he built, his beautiful gardens and his tools he had bought over the years. You would find Roger often in his workshop making things. Anyone that had the pleasure and honor of knowing him knew he was a kind and generous man. He will be deeply missed but may we all remember him as well as all the stories he shared with us.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 10th at 11AM at Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St., (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. Visiting hours are on Thursday, November 9th from 5PM to 7PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Roger A.
