Wallace "Big Butch" Young Sr.

1978 - 2016

HARRISVILLE - Wallace "Big Butch" Young, Sr., 59, of Harrisville, died June 12, 2016 in Saranac Lake, NY. He was the husband of Susan M. (Heywood) Young whom he married December 16, 1978. Born in North Troy, VT, he was the son of the late Wallace R. and Monique (Gauvin) Young.
Mr. Young worked as a machinist for Avery Dennison, Framingham, MA and had served with the Marines. He enjoyed playing basketball, was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Elks for twenty years where he ran their annual fishing derby. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and is remembered for his sense of humor, the stories he would share and his charitable work.
Besides his wife Susan, he is survived by three child- ren, Wallace Young, Jr. of Greenville, Melissa Young of Harrisville and David Young, Sr. of Woonsocket; a brother, Francis Young of Harrisville; three sisters, Laurie Joanette of Woonsocket, Gisele Young of Nashville, TN, and Anita Young of TN and seven grandchildren, Bryanna Sawyer, David Young, Jr., Bonnie and Jayde Young and Connie, Brianna and Liliana Ly.
His funeral will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 beginning with visitation at 4:30 PM followed by a service at 7:30 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
