Yolande Cavedon O'Donnell

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Yolande Cavedon O'Donnell, 91, of Getchell Street died December 11, 2016 at home. She was the wife of the late Former Lt. Governor, Joseph H. O'Donnell, Jr.
A lifelong resident of North Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Milot and John Cavedon, Sr. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and Regis College.
Over the past 55 years, she was active leader in numerous civic and political organizations and served on the boards of many including the YWCA of Woonsocket, the Girl Scouts of R.I., the Rhode Island Women's Golf Association, the North Smithfield Republican Women, and the Visiting Nurse Service of Northern, RI. She was formerly a member of Kirkbrae Country Club and the RI Women's Golf Association. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Woonsocket, she served as the first women trustee, served as a member of the Finance Committee, and was a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by six children: Sharon O. Moylan of Providence; Jennifer M. O'Donnell of North Providence; Christopher J. O'Donnell and his wife Kathleen of Pocasset, MA; Diane O. McCutcheon and her husband Malcolm of Millville, MA; Ellen O. Forte and her husband Joseph of Providence; and John C. O'Donnell of North Smithfield. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John Cavedon, Jr.
The funeral will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Smithfield Rd., North Smithfield. Calling hours will be held in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main St., Providence 02904, or the Alzheimer's Association 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
