Bobby J. Curtis, age 73, of Rockford, Illinois, peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:04 a.m. Born in Arkansas to the late Robert Curtis and Elrena (Sanders) Curtis, Bobby was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. After relocating to Rockford, Illinois, Bobby attended West High School and later earned his GED while serving in the United States Air Force Guard from 1976 to 1979. His commitment to service and community was a defining part of his life. Bobby was employed by FCA Chrysler from 1973 to 1976, followed by a dedicated career at Arachnid, and later at Anderson Packaging, where he worked for ten years until his retirement. His work ethic and loyalty were evident in every role he held. He had a deep love for music and was a passionate vocalist in the R&B group The Spoilers, where he shared his voice and spirit with audiences near and far. He was also a gifted painter who found peace and expression through his art. He cherished time with his family and was known for his uplifting spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering positivity. He especially enjoyed watching classic movies-a pastime that brought him great joy and comfort. He appreciated the timeless stories and the memories they evoked, often sharing his favorite films with loved ones. Bobby was a positive person with a great sense of humor, and his light-hearted nature left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He is survived by his loving children: daughters Cheryl Curtis Barmore, sons Shawn (Carrie) Curtis and Tony Curtis; and twelve cherished grandchildren, including special granddaughters Whitney Barmore and Atlanta Barmore, and special grandson Paul A. Barmore Jr. He also leaves behind his devoted siblings: Linda McDonald, Carolyn (Melvin) Curtis-Bradley, Marilyn (Kevin) Turner, Michelle (Scott) Curtis, Alice Curtis, and Wayne (Julie) Curtis, and a Special Brother Robert Peoples.
