David Shwaiko Obituary

David George Shwaiko passed away on March 21, 2026 at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving wife Janna (West) Shwaiko, his three children, Sam, Jenna, Jodie, his sister Jill and brother-in-law Rudy. David was an accomplished athlete throughout high school and afterward continued enjoying wonderful matches of golf and tennis on family get-togethers. He also valued the outdoors and became a lifelong conservationist. Accordingly, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with an independent major of Conservation of Our Natural Resources in 1975.

As a young man David enjoyed traveling and spent whatever time he could exploring and hitchhiking in the US and Europe with his dear friend Joe Ziman and others. He eventually went on to become a supervisor at the Jeld-Wen plant in Klamath Falls where he met his wife of 37 years, Janna. After retiring, David became a writer and published three books chronicling different periods of his life.

But most of all, David was a lover of simple pleasures: A great Wisconsin fish fry- watching the Packers WIN while enjoying a beer-having a bowl of ice cream- celebrating his kids accomplishments-sharing a loving smile with Janna. His competitive spirit, husky laughter and wry sense of humor will be missed by all.
