Frances Close Obituary
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Frances Lee Close, affectionately known as Franny, on October 5, 2025. Born on September 9, 1971, Frances was an extraordinarily compassionate and generous soul who made South Beloit, Illinois her home. She was a pillar of support and a beacon of reliability to all who knew her.
Frances was a passionate woman, both in her personal and professional life. She, alongside her late husband, Billy, owned and operated Lucky Lock for over 30 years, She specialized in car locks. Her travels took her to numerous dealerships where she repaired locks and offered advice. Her expertise was only surpassed by her ability to build strong relationships, which became the backbone of her business. Franny worked at Integrity Motors for a number of years. The staff treated her like family. They helped her many different tasks during her final years. Frances had a great love for life, which she expressed through her hobbies. She loved painting, delving into the world of books, and had a special fondness for wine tastings. Camping and cruising were among her favorite ways to unwind and she took every opportunity to explore new places.
Frances, known by some as a "little spitfire," was the very embodiment of love and selflessness. She was fiercely protective and supportive of her family, always ready to lend a hand. She is survived by her children, William Close, Tiffany Powell, and Elaine Close, grandchildren Isabella, Leon, Kade, Marianna, Bailea, and her father, David (Debbie) French. Her siblings, Debbie Chamberlain, Mike (Darla) French, Crystal (Chris) Hamilton, and Matt French, who will fondly remember their beloved sister. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy, Granddaughter Ariella, mother and step father Katherine & Jerry French.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 am October 25, 2025 in Rock Church, 6732 Harrison Ave, Rockford, IL with Pastor Jared Katke officiating. Cremation Rites to be Accorded with final resting place to be in Rockton Township Cemetery.
