Frances Monroe Obituary
The former Frances Alice Chandler was born on Sunday, January 2, 1927, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas Brian and Mary Ellen (Clark) Chandler. Frances married Norman Dana Monroe on June 9, 1951, in Beloit, Wisconsin. Norman preceded her in death on July 10, 2006. Frances grew up in Beloit and attended Brother Dutton Catholic School. She worked for a few years at Freeman Shoe Company in Beloit.
Frances was a lifelong member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit. She enjoyed embroidering, playing cards and bingo, and jigsaw puzzles.
Frances is survived by her children, Robert (Jackie) Monroe, Norma Monroe, and Gordon Monroe; grandchildren, Terri (Jamey) Rousseau, Thomas Monroe, April (Mike Sipple) Monroe, Becky (Steven) Zak, Sandra Monroe, Cindy (Eric) Schaefer, Jessica (Nick Brink) Morth, Robert Curtale, Elizabeth Diehl, Joshua Thompson, and Nicholas Bucher; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; god children, Margaret Wessels, Frances Schuldt, Bill Schuldt, Bonita Boyle, and Betty Otter; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son, Thomas Monroe; sisters, Mary Larson, Anna Chandler, Jeannette Boyle, and Ellen Schuldt; and a brother, Joseph Chandler; and a god son, Brian Boyle.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Park View Health Center for all of the love, respect, and care that was given to Frances during her stay.
Visitation is 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025 at the funeral home. Committal at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit will follow the service.
