Gordon John Walstrom

ROCKFORD, IL – Gordon John Walstrom, age 98, of Rockford passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2025. Born a twin in Rockford on Christmas morning, December 25, 1926 to Tore & Gerda Erickson (Carlson). He gave his heart to Jesus at 6 years old and never strayed away from Him. A proud WWII Veteran of the US Army, Gordon worked as an engineer for many years at National Lock Company. He attended and was involved with many churches in the Rockford area. A spiritual and devoted Christian, he married the love of his life Darlene at the age of 75 and together hosted bible studies and served the Lord together for 23 years. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking in his home workshop, creating beautiful tables, clocks and a variety of games. Beloved husband, uncle, great uncle and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Darlene Ann Walstrom (Dickerson); nieces; Rhonda (Ken) Walstrom-Tripp and Debra (Tom) Walstrom-Wagner; several 2nd cousins and great nieces and nephews; spiritual granddaughter and friend, Barbara Nickell; special friends, Wil & Amelia Nakai and Clay & Dana Bethuy. He is predeceased by his twin sister, Gloria; sister, Ruth; brother, Ralph; his parents; and cousin, Herbert A. "Hub" Carlson. Celebration of Life Memorial to be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 5:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded. Graveside Interment with Military Honors to be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural Street Rockford.
