James Arthur Brown

James Arthur "B Master" Brown of Rockford departed this earthly life September 28, 2025. He was born December 2, 1949 in Forrest City, Arkansas the son of Sylvester and Beatrice Brown. James lived in Rockford 45 years coming from Forrest City. He married the former Marva Walker, July 7, 1972 of this union three children were born. He was employed as a machinist by Structo in Freeport, IL. James was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War; receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star; Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Vietnam Cross Gallantry Medal. He was a member of Brown Chapel CME Church in Brinkley, Arkansas. James was a Mason. He graduated from school in Arkansas and attended university of Arkansas in Pine Bluff. James leaves to cherish many loving memories, his companion of 35 years, Veronica Gray; two sons, Anthony (Sandra) Walker and Carandus Brown; four daughters, Felicia Brown, Shiquitta (James) Harkins, Treva (Eldra) Jennings and Miracle Brown; 19 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise (Hooker) Brown and Eva Parks; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends including special nieces, Lanita Marks and Timea Sledge. He was predeceased by his parents; sons, Paris Buford and Marico Satterwhite; grandson, James Leslie Harkins; six brothers; and three sisters. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
