Johnnie Ruth Penix

Johnnie Ruth Penix, of Rockford departed this earthly life March 22, 2026. She was born February 11, 1945 in Eagle Mills, Arkansas the daughter of Charlene Neelon and Jeff Wesley. Johnnie lived in Rockford since 1965 coming from Eagle Mills, Arkansas. She married Dale W. Penix, October of 1967. Johnnie was employed as a machine operator by Camcar Textron 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church, serving in the Gomez Voices of Praise. She attended schools in Arkansas.

Johnnie leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Dale Penix; son, Darren (Stephanie) Penix; three daughters, Leschia Malone, Tanya (Eric) Harris and Erica Penix; seven grandchildren; Erin Morris, Derrick Hart, Britinie Penix, Jasmyne (Shakier) Hinton, Drake (Samantha) Hart, Sedrick Jones and Jadah Harris; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Davis and Willie Davis; five sisters, Bernadine (Paul) Thrist, Sharon (Jim) Hare, Cynthia (James) Wimberly, Ramona Davis and Rachel (Bill) Vaughn; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends including special friend Carlis Hancock. She was predeceased by her parents; Charlene Davis and Jeff Wesley; sisters, Opal Lambert and Barbara Diane Ceasar; brothers Donald Dawn and Leon Davis.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
