First and foremost Joe was a farmer and farmed with his brothers Tom and Pat in the Keota, Harper and Sigourney, IA area until 1995 when he moved his family to Davis, IL and he began a new career as a machinist at Ingersoll Milling in Rockford, IL. After Ingersoll closed six years after moving, he worked for Trenwyth in South Beloit, IL and retired from Corporate Contractors, Inc in Beloit, WI in 2021. Even though Joe moved away from the farm, farming never left his blood. In 2017, Joe and son, Mark purchased "The Shop". This was Joe's home away from home where he built furniture and anything else the family requested and fixed and rebuilt tractors. He loved his shop. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a patient, kind and caring person who would do anything for anybody. He was soft spoken, but yet always got his point across.
