Katherine Weber Obituary
Brodhead, WI - Katherine (Kathy) Jean Weber was born April 6, 1936 to Michael and Esther Bray and was called home by her heavenly Father on May 9, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born in Norway, Michigan, Kathy grew up on a farm near Peshtigo, Wisconsin where she became an avid Packers fan.
Kathy became a pen pal to Private Edward Weber while he was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Ed surprised her one morning when he knocked on her door in Janesville while enroute home to Cross Plains, WI on leave. The rest, as they say, is history as the couple, married in 1958, and recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on April 12th.
The couple farmed for a living, primarily milking dairy cows, with the first farm in Ashton. In 1968 the Weber's moved to a larger farm near Brodhead, WI where Kathy was a master in book-keeping, record-keeping and meticulous herd management. In 1983 she was honored to be named the Wisconsin Farm Wife of the Year.
Kathy was involved in a number of organizations, including FFA Alumni, Rock County Dairy Promotion, AFS, EverReady and Bowling club. Kathy opened her home to a number of foreign exchange students from countries such as Belgium, France, Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa.
Kathy loved gardening, especially flowers. She was known as the "glad lady" with rows of gladiolus planted in her large garden. If Kathy learned someone was sick she would prepare a bouquet of glads for them, and made sure the church altar was adorned with gladiolus for mass.
Kathy will be missed by her husband Ed, her children Paul Weber, Teresa (Dale) Earleywine, Rita Shimniok and special friend Kurt Grote, Robert (Michelle Van) Weber, Diane (Dan) Kaiser, Sira (Bridget) Nsibirwa, daughter-in-law, Linda Yardley; 18 grandchildren, Kimberly Langenfeld, Katie Moga, Ashley Weber, Blake Weber, Kalaka Moss, Ilana Uemura, Cordel Weber, Joshua Earleywine, Sarah Murphy, Kyle Shimniok, Abigail Shimniok, Christine Radcliff, Jon Vu, Bryant Vu, Brad Kaiser and Jessica Kaiser; 17 great-children; her siblings Betty Johnson, David (Jeanne) Bray, Robert (Sharon) Bray, dear friends Margie & Dean Darling, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her son Michael Weber, grand-daughter Angelina Nsibirwa, her parents and her son-in-law, Jesse Shimniok.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Church, with Father Kevin Earleywine officiating. Prior to mass a visitation will be held at the church at 280 Haberdale Drive, Footville, Wisconsin from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be served immediately after the mass, with internment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 4301 Count Hwy. T, Brodhead, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family in Kathy's memory.
