Katlyn Acord Obituary

Katlyn Elizabeth Acord, age 34, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away tragically on September 30, 2025. She was born on November 12, 1990 in Rockford, the beloved daughter of Tammy James and the late Bradley Acord. Katlyn was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, who were the very center of her world. Her oldest, Kiyan Lewis, whom she shared with his father, Daryl Lewis, was her strength and her pride. Having him at a young age, the two grew up side by side, and the bond they shared was unbreakable. Kiyan is a truly extraordinary young man-humble, level-headed, and wise beyond his years. He is part of a gifted program, excelling academically, and is not only incredibly smart but also grounded, kind, and compassionate. Watching Kiyan flourish into such a remarkable young man was one of Katlyn's greatest joys, and she took immense pride in every step of his journey. She knew he would carry her strength, her spirit, and her love forward. Her daughter, Audriel Jefferson, whom she shared with her father, Eddie Jefferson, was her mirror image in every way. Audriel was Katlyn's twin-not only in looks but in spirit. They shared the same mannerisms, the same sharp wit, and the same unapologetic honesty. Both funny and blunt, full of energy and personality, Audriel is a bubble of light who carries her mother's fire, humor, and charm within her. The bond they shared was a reflection of Katlyn herself, living on brightly in her daughter. Her youngest, Jaylen Brown, just 15 months old, brought a new light into Katlyn's life, filling her days with pure joy and love. With his innocence and laughter, he gave Katlyn a fresh purpose and a happiness that radiated through her. Katlyn's children were her everything, and her legacy will forever live on through them. She is survived by her mother, Tammy, and her sister, Amber. Katlyn and Amber shared an unbreakable bond. The love between them was so deep it often felt as though they only had each other. Katlyn also leaves behind many cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever carry her memory. She was preceded in death by her father, Bradley Acord, and her cousin and close friend, Jacob Almond. A proud high school graduate, Katlyn went on to work at PCI, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and dedication. Beyond work, she found joy in reading and was known for her sharp wit and vibrant personality. Katlyn was the funny, outspoken friend-the one who could always bring laughter, and the one you definitely couldn't put on speakerphone in a store. Her humor, honesty, and unapologetic spirit made her the heart of every gathering. Katlyn will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, and the immeasurable love she gave so freely to her children, her sister, her family, and her friends. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched. Services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61107. A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date. Though her life was cut tragically short, Katlyn's love and spirit will continue to shine through Kiyan, Audriel, and Jaylen.
