Patricia Fitzgerald Obituary
Patricia "Patti" Fitzgerald, 97, of South Beloit, IL, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 21, 2025 surrounded by family. During her final days, Patti carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love.She was born on July 3, 1928 in a country home in Seven Mile Creek, WI, one of nine children to Arthur and Ruth (Kelly) Walsh. Patti walked to a one room school for her elementary education. She was a proud Mauston High School graduate. Patti married Patrick Fitzgerald on November 27, 1948 in St. Marys Catholic Church, Lyndon Station, WI. He predeceased her on August 14, 1992. She was very proud of the life that she and Patrick created in South Beloit as well as the two homes they built from the ground up.Patti was strong, independent, and very proud of her Irish heritage. She had an incredible work ethic and was always busy. Patti loved her yard, flowers, gardening, and mowing her lawn on her cub cadet tractor. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. Patti worked many years at Blackhawk State Bank, Beloit College, South Beloit Boys Club, and Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. Patti was a volunteer at the Beloit Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, Hannahs House, Fair Oaks Nursing Home, and a Winnebago County election judge for 25 years. She enjoyed attending activities and sporting events for her children and grandchildren. A life well lived leaves behind a beautiful legacy; daughters, Karen Skalak and Kathi (Dan) Ryczek; sons, Tom (Wendy) Fitzgerald and Jack (Tina) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Stacey (Gary) Jones, Casey (Tammi) Ryczek, Erin (Justin) Hauser, Shane (Payton West) Ryczek, Jim (Kim) Fitzgerald, Scott (JoAnne) Fitzgerald, Brittany (Tyler) Witt, Patrick (fianc, Kiera) Fitzgerald, and Cassidy (fianc, Justin) Fitzgerald; 13 great-grandchildren, Desi, Evan, Dillon, Delaney, Rylan, Molly, Kiley, Makenna, Colin, Gavin, Braxton, Brooks, and Beckham; 5 great-great grandchildren, Bella, Emmie, Paisley, Bowie, and Jagger; brother, Larry (Elaine) Walsh; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Michelle (Duane) Matthewson, Jan Wells, and the Denny Manning family.Patti was predeceased by her husband, Patrick; parents; son-in-law, Tom T. Skalak; siblings, Monica, Bernard, Patrick, Gerald, Mary, Helen, Dean and their spouses; Patricks parents, siblings, Geraldine, Cecelia, Mary, Rosie, Lucy, Mike, Dennis, Rusty, and Iona and their spouses.Per Pattis wishes, a private family service and burial were held at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Lyndon Station, WI, next to her late husband, Patrick. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the South Beloit Businessmens Hall (Marys Place), 525 Washington St., South Beloit, IL.
