In Loving Memory of Paul A. Aasen
July 31, 1950 – August 24, 2025
In the early morning light of July 31, 1950, in Albert Lea, MN, a generous soul entered the world. Paul A. Aasen, a man whose life radiated love, laughter, and loyalty, graced this earth for 75 beautiful years. He lived each day with purpose, compassion, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Paul was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Eileen. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. With an open heart, Paul embraced Eileen's four children as his own, loving them fully and unconditionally. His greatest joy came later in life with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose laughter filled his heart and brightened every day.
A hardworking and humble man, Paul found deep satisfaction in a life spent working with his hands and giving back to others. His passion for agriculture led him to a fulfilling career in crop and swine farming. To then start with Dairyland Seed to retirement. He also ran his own carpentry business for 15 years, building not only with wood, but with care, integrity, and pride in every project. Whether fixing a fence or crafting something from scratch, he poured his heart into everything he did.
Paul was a self-made man of many talents-farmer, craftsman, birdwatcher, problem-solver, and so much more. He had an extraordinary love for nature and especially enjoyed watching birds with his wife and grandson. The sight of a hummingbird brought them uncontainable joy, a small but beautiful reminder of life's simple pleasures.
Family was the cornerstone of Paul's life. He was a steady presence, a calming force, and the glue that held everything together. He was the proud father of Paul (Andrea) Aasen III, loving grandfather of Vivian, Rhett, Andrew (Montana) Clausen, Rylan, Ashley (Ryan) Thompson, and cherished great-grandfather of Autumn and Hannah Clausen, and Liam Paige. Paul was also a devoted brother to Sharon Aasen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen Aasen, his mother, Lois Aasen, and his nephew and niece, Jake and Heather Herman.
Paul lived his life with a quiet but unwavering devotion to those he loved. He gave freely of his time, his heart, and his talents-always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or simply be there when it mattered most. His legacy is one of love, humility, and kindness-a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
As we remember Paul, we hold close the words of Albert Schweitzer: "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Paul embodied this sentiment every single day. And as Maya Angelou so beautifully put it, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Paul made us feel loved, safe, and valued.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL with Pastor Eric Lemonholm officiating. A memorial visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until time of Ceremony on Saturday. Cremation Rites were Accorded.
