Richard G.J. Armstrong

Richard G.J. Armstrong, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 90 surrounded by family who loved him deeply on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1935 in Beloit, WI, the son of Otto and Olga (Johnson) Armstrong. Richard was a 1953 Beloit Memorial High School graduate. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Richard was formerly employed by Hormel. Richard was a man who truly lived life his way-whether he was cruising on his pontoon, watching a baseball game, or taking his cherished '72 Mercury Montego out for a spin. He found joy in the simple things and laughter in almost everything. His quick wit and great sense of humor could light up any room and bring a smile to anyone's face. Above all, Richard loved his family. He was the heart of every gathering, the steady hand, and the quiet strength behind so many beautiful memories. His family is forever grateful for the love, guidance, and laughter he gave so freely. Richard's warmth, humor, and endless love will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be missed beyond measure, his spirit lives on-in every shared story, every smile, and every sunset on the water. Survivors include his children, Jeffery Allen (Lisa) Armstrong, Lori Armstrong, and Teri Lynn (Scott) Filzen; grandchildren, Shannon Montcalm, Mandi (Nico) Flores, Aaron Naber, Brittney (Austin) Zadoka, Rodney Filzen, Ryan Montcalm, Tyler (Jossie) Filzen, and Alyssa Armstrong; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents; brother, Alan; sisters, Marion and Muriel. A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held at a later date.
