Robert Friskey Obituary

Robert Victor Friskey, fondly known as Rob by his loved ones, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2025. He was born on June 5, 1959, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Robert and Arlene Friskey. A dedicated and loyal son, Robert carried his parents' legacy of faith and love throughout his life. He was a smart man, known for his sharp mind and reliable nature. A devout Catholic, Robert was a devoted member of the St. Anthony of Padua Church, actively involved in the Holy Name Society. In 2012, Robert found his life partner in Marcia and they shared a beautiful journey till the end. His generous heart, unwavering loyalty, and relentless reliability were the pillars of their relationship. Robert was a proud ROS operator at Byron Nuclear Power Plant for ComEd, where he served until his retirement in 2016. His intelligence and commitment were well-respected in his professional life. In his leisure time, Robert was an ardent lover of sports. He enjoyed fencing and cycling, and in his younger years, he played baseball and tennis. His love for scuba diving reflected his adventurous spirit. Robert was also a proud member of the NRA. His travels with Marcia and Mama were some of his most cherished pastimes. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia; his son, Kaleb; his brothers, Lee Friskey (Sandy), Victor Friskey and his his sister, Jude Stover. He also leaves behind his dear friends Kevin and Christine Slowinski and Scott Hollis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Friskey and Arlene, his brother Paul, and sister Mary. As we remember Robert, let us recall the words from Matthew 25:21, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." Robert truly lived these words through his unwavering faith, his commitment to his family, and his dedication to his friends and community. Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, IL with Fr. Carl Beekman officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL. Final Resting place will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Robert on his memorial page, as a tribute to his life and legacy. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
