Robert Weiler Obituary

Robert L. Weiler, 81, of Rockford crossed over the rainbow bridge to meet his dog buddies, Ben and Max. He was born on November 8, 1943 in Glen Carbon, IL, the son of George and Olive (Thomas) Weiler. He graduated high school and enlisted in the United States Army from 1964-1970. He married Margaret Merkel in Edwardsville, IL on August 1, 1964. They are married for 61 years. Bobby worked for Cassens Transport in Belvidere for 35 years, he was a member of the park district for 19 years, and a ranger and cashier at Sinnissippi Golf Course. Bobby was an avid collector of all kinds of items, from advertisement covered articles to unique umbrellas, canes, and countless yardsticks. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; children, Stephen and Sean (La Kingsavang) Weiler; grandchild, Santi Weiler; and special friends, Mike and Carol Sporrer. Predeceased by his parents, and brother, Terry Weiler. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Northern Illinois Hospice. They were wonderful in their care and compassion for Bobby.
