Susan Brockway Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Marie Brockway, fondly known as Susie, Mom, and Grammy, on June 19, 2025. Born on March 11, 1959, in Kankakee, IL, Susie was a constant source of love, support, and compassion to all who knew her. Her home was always filled with warmth and joy, a place where family and friends felt truly welcome.
Susie was a loving wife to Craig Brockway, with whom she shared the joys of life since their marriage on June 8, 1985. She was incredibly proud of her sons, Jacob (Jessica) Brandenburg and Desmond (Amanda) Brandenburg, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments or support them through life's challenges. Her heart swelled with joy in her role as Grammy to Magnus, Ivy, Mia, Ari, and Maddie. She delighted in every laugh, story, and moment spent with them. Susie's pride in her family extended to her beloved nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Mike) Biba and Steven (Vianey) Knight, and their children Nick, Ellie, Adrian, and Aaliyah. Each one was deeply cherished and a source of happiness and fulfillment in her life.
Susie had a spirited love for the Green Bay Packers and a creative spark that showed in her enjoyment of crafts and hands-on projects. While she had many interests, nothing brought her greater joy or purpose than her family - they were the center of her world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Diane Magnussen; her sister, Danielle Iserman; and her in-laws, Orv and Mary Brockway.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at McCorkle Funeral Home Pecatonica Chapel, 203 West 5th Street, Pecatonica. Cremation rites will be accorded, with a private burial to follow at Twelve Mile Grove.
A celebration of Susie's life will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Cimino's Restaurant, 119 E 4th Street, Pecatonica. All are welcome, and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports apparel. In true Susie fashion, Packers gear is especially fitting.
Susie's legacy of love, kindness, and heartfelt generosity will continue to leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. We invite you to honor her memory by sharing your stories and photos on her memorial page - a celebration of a life that brought joy, comfort, and connection to so many.
