Vernus Skattum Obituary

Vernus W. Skattum, 75, of Clinton, WI, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Alden Meadow Park. He was born March 7, 1950 in Monroe, WI, the son of Vernus S. and Dorothy (Ronnerud) Skattum. Vernus was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School. He received his Master's Degree in Theology and Healthcare Administration. Vernus was the owner and operator of Skattum Plumbing, Wittie Baker and Stateline Mechanical. He was a hard worker and an avid gardener. Vernus was active in JOB, the Poor People's Campaign and everyone having free healthcare. He also started the Spirit of Hope Church with Kurt and Kristy Handrich. Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Skattum and Nichole (John Severance) Skattum; grandchildren, Kim Opala, Kelci Roerig, Tia Chancy, Braedyn Chancy and Annabelle Scudder; and his Spirit of Hope Family. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Linda Skattum and children; Andrea Skattum and Bryan Skattum. The family would like to thank the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Beloit Regional Hospice and Alden Meadow Park for the care that was given to Vernus.
