Wilbert Puckett Obituary

Our beloved Wilbert Hollis "WH" Puckett, transitioned from this life on August 24, 2025. He was born on August 29, 1951 in Tallulah, LA the son of Wilbert and Florence Puckett. WH lived in Rockford since 1970 coming from Louisiana. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War, he served his country honorably with pride. WH was a dedicated, hard-working provider and a steadfast protector of his family. WH married the former Hazel Bradley, April 10, 1977. He was fun-loving, talented, athletic, and energetic-a well-rounded, good-hearted man beloved by all who met him. The children in Hazel's daycare affectionately knew him as "Papa" or "Pappi." WH leaves to cherish many fun and loving memories, the love of his life of 48 years, Hazel Jean, and he supported her in every season; his children Walter Webster, Keyla Kelly, Begin Puckett, and Courtney Bradley; his grandchildren Jamane, Trevon, Cordre, DeMarius, DeMarion, and Nylah; and his great-grandchildren Summer, Winter, Autumn, and Cordre Jr.; 12 siblings: Jewel Chretien, Rose Emanuel, Patricia (Dorian) Frank, Billy (Barbara) Puckett, Wanda Puckett, Paul (Diana) Puckett, James (Ella) Puckett, Manuel (LaTonya) Puckett, Deborah Puckett, Terry Puckett, Elizabeth Green, Stacy (LaKesta) Puckett; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and friends. WH was preceded in death by his parents, Florence (Shaw) and Wilbert Puckett; and his siblings Willia Puckett, Dorothy Jenkins, Gregory Puckett, and Edward Puckett. He will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice and Senior Helpers for their compassionate care. The family of Wilbert Puckett would like to thank everyone for the amazing love and support. Every visit, call, flower, hug, and tear meant so much to him and even more to us. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at City First 5950 Spring Creek Road. Family will receive guest from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
