Barbara Garrard Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Joan (Brown) Garrard, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Peoria, Arizona on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Barbara was born in Robinson, IL, January 24, 1931, to Kenneth and Leona M (Beeman) Brown, the third of six children. She was a Christian of deep faith and was baptized at the age of 12. She met her future husband at age 7 at the Trimble school swing set. They would later marry and have four children. They moved to Kokomo, IN in 1963 where Barbara spent the next 50 years. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she developed many deep and lasting friends at her church, remaining in close contact with them even when she moved to Arizona in 2013. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harry and son, Richard Garrard, her parents and siblings, Jack (Kit) Brown, sisters Margaret (Dale) Crow, Gini (Dick) Chamblin and her sister-in-law Donna Brown. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Gary) Canter, Glendale, AZ; Linda Crowder, Glendale, AZ; Laura Garrard, Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Dennis Brown, Palm Desert, CA and a sister, Mrs. Darralynn (Bill) Beard of Robinson, IL; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many, many Nieces and Nephews. Barbara will be remembered as a talented artist who loved to paint. Her hobbies were painting, reading, and spending time with her family. Graveside interment of cremated remains will be conducted In the Newlin Cemetery, 1425 N. 1150th St, Robinson, IL, Saturday June 28, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Aaron Peternell officiating.
