Betty Hendricks Obituary

Betty Louise (Norman) Hendricks was born on July 10, 1929, to James "Bee" Norman and Lenna Mae (Stevens) Norman. Betty passed away Friday evening, September 12, 2025. After being surrounded by her family all day, she waited until the silence of the night to go meet Jesus.
Betty married the love of her life and her lone ranger, Harvey Darrell "Windy" Hendricks on July 20, 1946, at a barber shop in Spencer, Indiana. Together they created a love story and a legacy for the generations that came after them. Betty welcomed everyone to her home with love and kindness. It has been said that Betty babysat half of Owen County and loved and cared for each as if they were her own. Betty loved Jesus and made it a point to read her Bible every day. Betty was baptized as a child in Rattlesnake creek. She was a member of Spencer 1st Baptist Church but attended Cuba Baptist church many years while growing up.
Betty was a caring sister to Earl Norman and Alberta Mae Hendricks.
Betty was a loving mother, mom, mommy to Cheryl Burnham (Mark), Linda Jenkins (Steve), Mike, Vicki Pruett, Doug, and Kelli Hoadley (Chip). She taught them many lessons of love, patience, forgiveness, perseverance, and laughter.
She was a patient and caring grandmother, grandma, mamaw, Gramm, and Grandma Battleax to Travis Jenkins, Lori Warner (Norman), Kim Jones (Mike), Michael Hendricks, David Pruett (Nicole), Melissa Hendricks, Cory Pruett, Eric Hoadley (Stephanie), and Ethan Hoadley. She was more than just a grandma, she was a cheerleader, a babysitter, confidant, and a friend.
Her legacy grew as she became a great-grandma, a great-great grandma and even a great -great-great grandma. The connection she had with each of her great grands was very special. Grandma Hendricks, Grandma Battleax or 3G, whatever you called her, you knew you could count on her to be there for them. Whether it was a baseball game, basketball game, football game, or a visit to Florida, she was there for her great grandkids.
Great grandkids: Bryan, Brandt (Katlin), Brandon (Amber), Trey, Skye, Tristan, Lacey (TJ), Tyler, Tanna, Trayden, Jonny, Brianna, Caleb, Isaac, Laney, Dawson, Jake, Dylan, Emmett, Sophia, Finn, and Redyck.
Great-great grandkids: Savanna, Colton, Henry, Ryan, Ashlynn, Bryce, Branson, Cooper, Kelce, Kinsley, Kolson, Carson, Peyton, Ellie, and Khari.
Great-great-great grandchild-Bentley.
Betty loved her flowers and had the best green thumb around. She loved to work in her puzzle books. Betty could be counted on to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy nightly. Her favorite soap opera was Days of our Lives. She loved IU basketball and Bobby Knight.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Cheryl and Linda, son in laws Mark Burnham, and Steve Jenkins, grandson Travis, and her brother and sister.
