Brent Cooper Obituary
Brent David Cooper, age 48, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away as a result of a vehicle accident on October 27th.
Brent was born on May 12, 1977, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Dave and Trudy Cooper. He was raised in Riley and graduated from West Vigo High School, where he distinguished himself in football, basketball, and track and field. Brent was selected for the Hoosier Basketball All-State team and competed at the AAU Nationals with the Speice-Jeansmen basketball team for several years. He was recognized as an outstanding tight end in USA Today. Brent continued his academic and athletic pursuits at Indiana State University, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree (Recreation and Sports Management) while playing football.
He was also actively involved in the Vigo County Horse & Pony Club for many years and competed nationally in horse shows and contests. Currently, Brent was employed by Pullman Corporation.
Brent was known for his caring and outgoing personality. He enjoyed spending time with his family, engaging in outdoor activities, and building connections with those around him.
He is survived by his parents Dave and Trudy Cooper; former wife, Rhonda Beasley; his sons, Brayden and Austin Cooper; his daughter, Cora Cooper; his long-term girlfriend, Tia Pershing, and her children, Keegan, Zaylei, Oaklei, and Journei; as well as his cherished sister, Mandi Cox (Michael), nephew Ethan Cox (Mallory), and niece Michaela Cox.
Additional surviving family members include his aunts, Brenda Rector and Hatsumi McIntosh; uncles, Bill McIntosh (Judi), Daryl Cooper (Linda), and extended family members, including loving cousins Casey Rector (Kayla), Darci Marchese (Stephen), Randa Kirschner (Dakota), Troy McIntosh, Trent McIntosh (Natasha), Dusty Higgs (Jack), Chet McIntosh (Jennifer), Brett McIntosh, Lela McIntosh (Mike), Tisha Paugh (Randy), and Zach Cooper (Tiffany).
Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Wilbert and Betty McIntosh, Robert and Joy Cooper, and Uncle Rusty McIntosh.
Visitation will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home on Springhill Drive on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
