Danny Dailey Obituary

Danny "Dan" L. Dailey, age 70, of Linton, passed away at 2:50 AM on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born in Linton on October 20, 1954, the son of Alfred and Marilyn J. (Goodman) Dailey. Dan was born on October 20, 1954, in Linton, to Alfred and Marilyn J. (Goodman) Dailey. A lifelong resident of Greene County, Dan carried with him a deep pride for his hometown and the people in it. He graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in 1972 and went on to build a long career as a skilled heavy equipment operator, retiring from Bear Run Coal Mine in 2017. His steady work ethic and devotion to his crew earned him friendships that lasted well beyond his working years. More than his work, Dan will be remembered for the way he lived each day with joy. He loved being outdoors - whether it was playing a round of golf, riding through the back roads on his side-by-side or motorcycle, or walking through a car show reminiscing about "the good old days." He enjoyed traveling to new places, but his greatest happiness came from being home with his family. His daughters, Kalynn and Kamryn, were his pride and joy, and he rarely missed an opportunity to brag about his grandson Kolson. He was delighted most in simply being present with those he loved. He found faith and fellowship as a member of Saron United Church of Christ, where he took comfort in being part of a caring community. Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Gayla L. (Vorek) Dailey, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures; two loving daughters, Kalynn Wilson (Aaron) and Kamryn Dailey (Zeke Scott); one grandson who meant the world to him, Kolson Wilson; his sister, Diana Dailey; his mother-in-law, Sharon Vorek; his cherished niece and nephew, Lindsay Goodman and Chris Vorek, who always held a special place in his heart; along with his faithful companions, Emma Louise "The Weeze" and Maci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marilyn Dailey. Funeral services to celebrate Dan's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, with Pastor J.D. Rose officiating. He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In keeping with his love for community and animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saron United Church Youth Group or the Greene County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Those who knew Dan are invited to share memories and condolences with his family at www.welchcornett.com .
