John Joseph Roof Jr.

John "Roofy" Joseph Roof, Jr., age 60, of Jasonville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his residence. He was born on January 10, 1965, in Linton, Indiana, the beloved son of John "Jack" Joseph Roof, Sr. and Donna (Morin) Roof. A proud 1984 graduate of Shakamak High School, John dedicated much of his life to hard work and adventure. He began his career as a heavy equipment operator in the mining industry and later took to the open road as an over-the-road truck driver. John's love for machines and the freedom of the highway reflected his spirited and independent nature. Affectionately known as "Roofy," John was a man of many passions. He found joy attending truck pulls, riding his Harley Davidson, casting a line while fishing, and challenging friends to a good game of pool. His vibrant personality and genuine love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. John is lovingly remembered by his mother, Donna Roof; daughter, Jacqlyn Roof of Terre Haute; cherished grandson, Kamari Kashtyn Potter; sister, Julie Gibson; nephew, Chris (Ashlyn) Gibson; great-niece, Elsie Gibson; and great-nephew, Landon Gibson. He was preceded in death by his father, John "Jack" Joseph Roof, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Donald and Lillian Johnson; and paternal grandparents, Wilfred and Hallie Roof. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
