John Sims Obituary

John Clarence Sims Jr., age 98, of Spencer, Indiana passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana. He was born in Spencer, Indiana on November 4, 1926 to John C. and Helen (Curtis) Sims. John graduated from Spencer High School with the class of 1945 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II. After the service John worked in many professions. He owned and operated carnival rides, owned a skating rink in Spencer, and repaired band organs for merry-go-rounds. John is survived by his sister Bettylou Cunningham; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Eleanor Jean Tilley. Graveside services for John will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday September 3, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery Street, Spencer, Indiana 47460. West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.westparrishpedigo.com
