LaDonna Meurer Obituary

LaDonna Sue Meurer, lovingly known as Donna, passed away peacefully at Autumn Trace in Linton on Sunday, June 29, 2025, with her family gathered close. She was 86 years old - a life well-lived and deeply cherished. Born in Linton on July 19, 1938, to Claude and Callie (Emerson) Reed, Donna was a proud lifelong resident of her hometown. She graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in 1956, where she made lifelong friends. She married Phillip H. Meurer in 1958, embarking on a partnership filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering support for one another. Donna's life was a tapestry of love, service, and spirited competition. She was a devoted homemaker and, in her early years, worked at 3-D in Linton. Later, she served her community for many years working in the Stockton Township Assessor's office, and then as the Greene County Assessor. A fierce competitor with a gentle heart, Donna was a formidable bowler and tennis player, well into her 70s. She never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Notre Dame football team or Indiana University basketball. She had a special love for her faithful dog, Courage. She was a member of Saron United Church of Christ. Over the years, she lent her time and talents to various local organizations, always eager to give back to the community she loved. Above all, Donna was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She leaves behind her children, Claudia (Cris) Walker and PH Meurer, both of Linton; four grandchildren, Cayden Walker, Camryn Walker (Jaydan Miller), Kane Meurer, and Briar Meurer; and three great-grandchildren, Renley Walker, Lainey Walker, and Hunter Meurer. Donna's home was always open beyond her family. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved Phil (who she missed dearly since his passing in 2016); brothers Oran and Otis Reed; and sisters, Ola Bales and June Medcalf. Donna's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and joy - a life marked by service, laughter, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A funeral service celebrating Donna's life will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Jeff Fulk. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greene County Humane Society, through the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared with Donna's family at www.welchcornett.com. May Donna's memory be a blessing and her spirit live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
