Melody Eckert Obituary

ROCKVILLE – Melody Ann Eckert, 69, of Rockville, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Union Hospital in Clinton. She was born August 15, 1956, in Crane, Indiana, to Donald Gene Lewis and Mary Geraldine Litzler Lewis. Following the passing of her father, her mother later married Robert Atkinson, and together they raised Melody. Melody recently retired from Scott Pet Products after 26 years of dedicated service. She is survived by her son, John Robert Nash Eckert of Rockville; her mother and father, Mary and Robert Atkinson of Bridgeton; two sisters, Mary Lou Lewis and Becky Crabtree, both of Rockville; one brother, Gene Lewis of Michigan and her beloved dog, Pixie Lou. She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Eckert; her father, Donald Gene Lewis; and two brothers, Billy Don Lewis and John Robert Lewis. Melody had a love for Halloween and enjoyed decorating her home each year. She also loved watching Judge Judy, Survivor, crime shows and reading her Bible. The family will host a Celebration of Life from 2–3 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Faith Bridge Assembly of God Church, 541 US-36, Rockville, IN 47872. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home & Crematory, Rockville. Online condolences may be shared at www.goochfuneralhome.com.
