Michael Sontag Obituary

Michael B. Sontag, 64, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 in his home after a 6 year battle with cancer. He was born in Terre Haute, IN on August 31, 1961 to Rudy L. Sontag and Betty J (Talbott) Sontag. Mike graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo in 1979. He began a 39 year career at Taghleef Ind (formerly Hercules and AET) in 1980. He was known as an avid reader, crossword puzzler, and history buff, and enjoyed traveling, concerts, watching sports of all kinds, and partying "Boonville Style" with his family on the 4th of July and Christmas. He loved a good hearty meal and German beer, cookouts with family and friends, and Christmas music. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kimberli, a son, Michael R.W. Sontag, step daughter Amanda Heilmann, sister Kathy Scherrer (Jeff), brother Jeff Sontag (Rebecca), aunt and uncle Susie and Bill Bogigian, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with his wishes, cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home with no services. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date.
