Steven Ward Lamb

Steven W. Lamb, 83, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughters Lisa Crawford (David), Lana Kusiak-Smith, and Leta Harmeyer (Steve); son Steven Lamb Jr. (Cassy); brother Roger Lamb (Laurie); sister-in-law Joan Lamb and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Lamb; brother Phillip Lamb; and parents Ralph and Bernice Lamb. Steven earned his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in 1970 and began his career at Indiana State University, where he taught for 51 years. He served as Chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance, Insurance, and Risk Management within the Scott College of Business and also held roles including Chair and Co-Chair of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. He received numerous honors, including the 2012 President's Medal for Exemplary Teaching and Scholarship and the 2017 William Albert Jones Medal for Outstanding Advice and Counsel to the Presidency of ISU. He retired as Professor Emeritus on July 1, 2021. Steven was passionate about teaching and beloved by students and faculty for his dedication and sense of humor. Steven cherished time with his family, enjoying summer camping trips across the U.S., and the annual Thanksgiving ping pong tournament. He enjoyed swimming at the ISU Recreation Center and a good cup of coffee with colleagues. Visitation will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home on June 12, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
