Tracy Morrison Obituary

Tracy Jo Morrison, 50, passed away at her home in Linton on Saturday, July 19, 2025, after a sudden medical event. Born on April 13, 1975, in Linton, Tracy was a cherished daughter of Harold James "Jim" Morrison and Gayellan (Curtis) Morrison. A proud graduate of Linton-Stockton High School in 1993, Tracy's love of learning propelled her to Indiana State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1998. Her commitment to education never wavered - she continued expanding her knowledge by earning master's degrees and certifications, always striving to be the best teacher she could be. Looking forward to beginning her 28th year of teaching, Tracy devoted nearly three decades to inspiring young minds at White River Valley High School, specializing in science and AP courses. Her classroom was a place of curiosity and encouragement, and her students remember her as not just a teacher but a mentor who fueled their passions and dreams. Beyond her professional life, Tracy's generosity and warmth touched everyone who knew her. In her church community, she served joyfully as the former Children's Church Leader at Providence Baptist Church, nurturing the faith of the youngest members with patience and kindness. Her "secret garden" was a personal sanctuary that she shared at times with family and friends - a lovingly tended space where she found peace and brilliance blossomed among the flowers, much like the hope she planted in the lives of her loved ones. Family was at the heart of everything Tracy did. She was the adored sister and best friend to Sarah, with whom she shared countless movie nights, long walks, and heartfelt conversations. She delighted in doting on her nephews Ben and Hogan Timothy, and niece Everlee, whom she lovingly spoiled, creating treasured memories filled with laughter, shopping trips, and baked treats from the family's official baker. Her brothers, Ryan and Adam, also held a special place in her life, as did her many aunts, uncles, and extended family who will dearly miss her gentle spirit. She loved helping her uncle Mike in any way she could. For over 20 years, she enjoyed hosting her aunts and uncle, Amy, Dina, and Pete, during their many visits to their hometown. Tracy's home was always open, a place filled with warmth, friendship, and the sweet aroma of her homemade baked goods. Her passion extended beyond her family to her community - she championed education, creativity, and kindness in all she undertook. She is lovingly survived by her parents, Jim and Gayellan Morrison; brothers, Ryan and Adam (Lauren) Morrison; sister, Sarah Morrison; nephews, Ben and Hogan Timothy Morrison; niece, Everlee Morrison; many aunts and uncles; and others whose lives she enriched. A Celebration of Tracy's Life will be held in her honor at the White River Valley High School Gymnasium on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM (doors open at 3:00 PM). Memories, stories, and laughter will be shared as we remember a woman whose impact will be felt for generations. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the WRV STEM Program, supporting the passion for science and education that defined Tracy's career. Checks may be made payable to WRV School, with envelopes available at the service. Arrangements are under the care of Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
