Charles Smith Obituary
Charles Roland Smith was born December 25, 1942 in Crossville, Alabama to parents, Corbie and Marie Williams Smith. He was saved at the age of 11 and answered the call to preach at the age of 16. He was Licensed in 1958 and Ordained into the Ministry in 1963. He served as Pastor of Rural Grove, Liberty, Dutton, Bethlehem, Rosalie, Ider and East Brow churches for over 62 years. He obtained his Doctorate Degree in Theology and served as as a Professor for Samford Baptist Seminary through their extension program. He served many different roles with the Sand Mountain Baptist Association over the past 50 plus years. His servants heart allowed him to follow the Lord's direction and he was able to reach many souls through his ministry. His genuine care for his fellow man was not listed on a plaque or trophy, but will forever be enshrined in the hearts and lives of those that he touched.
Survivors include children, Keela Eldridge(Bill), Laura Holder(Spencer), Aaron Smith(Alana), Mark Smith(Lori), Charlie Wilson(Andrea), grandchildren, Brandy Graham(Tom), Daniel Smith(Monika), Chris Smith(Tiffany), Derrick Clayton(Lori), Curtis Clayton(Sabrina), Alex Croft(Mireya Juan), Ansley Barreda(Tristan), Aidan Smith, Chas Holder(Makayla), Colin Wilson, Connor Wilson, Dakota Holder(Lorie), 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Tommy Smith(Donna), Larry Smith(Teresa), Kelly Smith, Martha Warden(Danny), Tabitha Graben(Wesley), along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his first wife, Carolyn Smith and his second wife, Shirley Smith.
