Charlie T. Scales Jr.

Charlie T. Scales, Jr., 60, transitioned on Monday, June 9, 2025, at his residence in New Albany, MS. Charlie T. "Bug" Scales, Jr., was born November 6, 1964 to Charlie T. Scales, Sr., and Clara Mae Scales in Holly Springs, MS. He departed this life June 9, 2025 to reside in his heavenly home with the Lord. Charlie received his formal education at Old Salem and Ashland High Schools in Ashland, MS. Charlie worked at Big Mill and the Benton County Road Maintance. He did roofing as well. Charlie professed a hope in Christ at an early age joining Mt. Zion. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, contracting, roofing and all building trades. He was known to lend a helping hand to anybody when they needed help. He leaves to cherish his memories one sister; Jennifer Scales (Milton) of New Albany, MS, six brothers; Jame Scales (Helen) of Holly Springs, MS, William Scales (Tena) of Grand Rapids, MI, Roy Scales (Mary) of Myrtle, MS, Harold Scales (Angelia) of Olive Branch, MS, Ronald Scales (Candy) of Shannon, MS, Calvin Scales of Myrtle, MS, aunts; Jessie Cathey, Lillie Kelsey, Cora Douglas, Shirley McAdory (Gilbert) of Memphis, TN, Waurine Schaeffer (Eddie) of Memphis, TN, Wyvonie Cathey of NC, Verdia Cathey of Ashland, MS, uncles; Jimmy Cathey (Mary) of Holly Springs, MS, Jame Cathey (Verna) of LA, step-father; Junior H. Judge, special cousin; Sadie Mae Washington, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Charlie "Bug" Scales was preceded in death by his loving mother; Clara Mae Scales, a sister Celestine, two nephews; Jaylon Glover and Shomari Scales, grandparents; Clarence and Laura Cathey, two uncles; Clarence Cathey, Jr, John Davis Cathey, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Psalm 34:8 Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 722 Coulter Drive, New Albany, MS 38652. Services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church, 1041 Little Snow Creek Rd., Holly Springs, MS 38635. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
