David Bruce, age 82, of Tupelo, MS., passed away January 12, 2025. Mr. Bruce was a faithful member of the Verona Church of Christ for many years. He was passionate about Maywood Christian Camp and the work of his parents in this endeavor. He enjoyed hosting Senior Citizen dinners along with his grandchildren – the Papaw Gang – for many Christmases until his health failed. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at the Huddle House.
Memorial services for Mr. Bruce will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Verona Church of Christ with Adam Cox and Barry Kennedy officiating.
Mr. Bruce is survived by two daughters, Tanya Cox (Wayne), and Leigh Ann Bruce. Mr. Bruce also leaves behind three grandchildren, Camri Bruce, Adam Cox, and Abby Pratt (Bryant), and one great granddaughter, Emerson Pratt, brother-in-law, Jimmy Hodges (Sherri), sister-in-law, Pam Hodges, as well as a host of other extended family members and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Bruce, a son, Mac Bruce, his parents, E.R. and Bea Bruce, his sister, Faye Gillentine, and his in-laws Leburn and Mary Nell Hodges.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Maywood Christian Camp, 700 Maywood Camp Rd., Hamilton, AL 35570.
