Elizabeth Buchanan Newcomb

Elizabeth Newcomb Madison, AL – Elizabeth Buchanan Newcomb, 92, passed away on October 13, 2025 at Madison Hospital in Madison, Alabama. She was born in New Albany, MS on June 24, 1933 to James E. Buchanan, Jr. and May Hall Buchanan. She graduated from Blue Mountain Christian University in 1955 and worked as an English teacher after graduation, before marrying Harold Newcomb in 1957. They moved to Huntsville, AL in 1962 where they became members of First Baptist Church of Huntsville, where she sang in the choir, taught Children's Sunday School and the GAs, and was an active member of her Ladies Sunday School class. Her legacy of kindness, service and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She enjoyed family get-togethers, her Blue Mountain College group socials, and the support of her Sunday School Class. She is survived by two sons, Jeff Newcomb (Nancy) and David Newcomb; two sisters, Louise Buchanan and Nancy Buchanan Hart (Bill); one brother, James E. (Jim) Buchanan III; and three grandsons, Nathan, Tyler and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harold Newcomb. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Flat Rock Baptist Church on Highway 2 in Hickory Flat, MS. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery.
