Franklin Mask Obituary

On Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, Franklin "Frank" Mask, 91, resident of Dumas, departed this life in the comfort of his home surrounded by family following a brief illness. Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Mask will be at 1 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Robbins and Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM and on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 10 AM until time of service in the Heritage Chapel of The Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery in Pine Grove. Mr. Mask was born November 16, 1933, in Tippah County to the late Roy and Gracie Pannell Mask. He received his education from Pine Grove School and was married September 15, 1951 to his devoted wife, Frances Mask who precedes him in death. A member of Dumas Baptist Church and an avid cattle farmer and rancher throughout his life, Mr. Mask served as a supervisor for Oil Dri for thirty-five years and worked as a road maintenance worker for Tippah County for over twenty-five years before his retirement eleven years ago. Mr. Mask was the epitome of a devoted husband, father, Papaw and friend. A "do-it-all" kind of man and a "master rigger" of anything deemed unfixable, he was known for his hard work and unwavering devotion to his family. He always tried to instill in them that nothing was better than a Massey Ferguson or a Chevy, and he would gladly argue his case with any of them. Yet, more than the debate, he cherished their company-listening together to his favorite gospel group, The Gaither's, and eagerly showing them how to get things done without relying on anyone's help. He was a devoted family man and a tireless worker, whose love and kindness touched everyone he knew. Now, his labor is done, and he rests in the peace and joy of Heaven, with his beloved wife, Fran, his cherished daughter, Jeannie and his treasured granddaughter, Lynn. His legacy lives on with the memories his family cherishes, and they find comfort knowing they will see him again. Memories will continue to be shared by two granddaughters, Tammy Almand (Steven Ericksen) and Penny Hill (Eric Bibb), both of Dumas, two sisters, Kathleen "Kat" Cooper of Dumas, and Ruth Thweatt of Pontotoc, one brother, Billy Roy Mask of Hatchie, ten grandchildren, Tamara Hodges (Kelly), Lauren Childers, Burke Ericksen, Justin Almand, Jon-Brooks Almand, Tyler Hill, Brady Hill (Lexie Criswell), Caitlyn Douglas (Noah), Carree Floyd, and Hunter Bibb, five great-great grandchildren, Gunner, Nolan and Gracie Hodges, Kingston Childers, and Lucas Sanderson, one grandson-in-law, Bobby Floyd, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heather Cornelius, his home health nurse, Heather Rutherford, his hospice nurse, as well as to all the nurses, who provided exceptional care to Mr. Mask during his hospital stay at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Frances, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannie Drewery, granddaughter, Lynn Floyd, one great-great grandchild, Baby Hill, one brother, Buck Mask, and two sisters, Ellen McDowell and Virginia Grisham. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Lynn Floyd Scholarship Fund at Regions Bank, in Ripley, MS. Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories with the Mask family.
