Hugh Crayton Obituary

Hugh Martin Crayton was born February 2, 1943, in Lee County, Mississippi, to the late Rufus (Buddy) Crayton and Rennie Mosley Crayton of Belden, MS. He transitioned to eternal rest at the Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo, MS surrounded by his beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on March 22, 2025. He was the grandson of the late Sam and Annie Kimble. Martin attended Old South Belden School. At an early age, he united with Hopewell M. B. Church in Belden, MS. Martin retired from Delta International after working for over 30 years.
Martin was united in Holy Matrimony to Sarah Ann White who proceeded him in death on January 2, 2003. Martin was a self-taught mechanic and taught his son, Billy Wayne how to work on vehicles as well. He enjoyed cooking, helping anyone he met, listening to Blues. He was an avid sport fan and fisherman. Martin just enjoyed life to the fullest. Martin was proceeded in death by his wife: Sarah Crayton; four brothers: L. C. Crayton, Rufus Crayton, Jr., Marvin (Sonny) Crayton and Henry Lewis Graham; and two sisters: Helen Crayton and Alice Shell Martin's precious memories will be cherished by his eight children: Vernell (Benny) Anderson, Tupelo, MS, Cheryl Gwen Wheeler, Tupelo, MS, Sandra Burnes, Tupelo, MS, Thelma White, Corinth, MS, Billy (Brittany) White, Pontotoc, MS, Shirley Grove, Booneville, MS, Mitzi Crayton, West Point, MS, and Sonya Crayton, Tupelo, MS; one brother: Thomas Crayton, Tupelo, MS; seventeen grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew, family and
friends.
