James Clark Obituary

James Zane "Jim" Clark, Jr., 73, left his earthly home on Monday, August 25, 2025 with his family at his side. He was born on April 1, 1952 in Fort Worth, TX to James Z Clark, Sr., and Marion Celestine Mooneyham Clark. He was a member of New Parkersburg Missionary Baptist Church. Southern Funeral Home in Houston is honored to serve his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 3:00 at Southern Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Hartley and Bro. Henry Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be from 2:00 until service time at 3:00 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be members of Houston Masonic Lodge. Jim lived most of his life in Houston, MS besides when he was in the military. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Norfork, VA , he met the love of his life, Ava Karyn Moore. They married in Virginia Beach on Valentine's Day in 1975. He worked as a tool and dye maker and retired from Day-Bright Lighting in Tupelo after 27 years of service. Jim was a Master Mason in Houston Masonic Lodge #67 and served two terms as Master of the Lodge. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, even after being in a body cast for 3 months after a motorcycle wreck. Jim and his wife toured all over the United States on his motorcycle. He was an outdoorsman that looked for any excuse to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. One of his hobbies was reloading ammunition. His faith was very important to him and he loved God and serving Him. Jim lived life to the fullest and leaves behind many fond memories for his family to cherish. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ava Karyn Moore Clark of Houston; his son, William "Bill" Arron Owen (Mary) of Pontotoc; his grandson, Clark Owen; a special niece Renee Vance of Tupelo, great-nieces, Kadie Griffin (Drew) and Katelyn "Sissy" Mullins (Bryce); great-great niece, Evie Griffin, and many cousins, including a special cousin, James "Jimmy" C. Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Z Clark, Sr. and Marion Clark, and a brother, Bobby. Clark.
