Ladonna Chunn Obituary

After a life lived fully and freely, Ladonna Michella "Sissy" Chunn departed this earthly world and entered into her eternal home on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Mississippi, at the age of 56. Sissy had a love for living large, and it was only fitting that even in her final ride, her unforgettable spirit shined through. After her cremation, she made her journey to the funeral home just the way she would've wanted - her urn carried proudly on a motorcycle, delivered to the family with love and care. It was a send-off that perfectly captured who she was: bold, carefree, and full of life until the very end. A gathering of family and friends will be from 3 PM until 6 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care, with Bro. Chad Gordon officiating at 5:30 PM. The family invites everyone to join and celebrate the life Sissy lived, reminiscing about the laughter, joy, and countless memories she created with so many. Born into this world on September 1, 1969, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Sissy was the daughter of Joan Lindsey Chunn and the late Loyd Lee "Red" Chunn. She received her education from Myrtle Attendance Center and devoted thirteen years of service to Master-Bilt Corporation before her retirement. A Christian and woman of strong spirit, Sissy was truly one of a kind - a firecracker, full of energy, humor, and grit. She believed that life was too short not to enjoy every second of it. Whether she was singing her heart out during karaoke nights, working in her yard, or dressing up for Halloween - her favorite holiday - Sissy always made sure there was fun and laughter wherever she went. She never met a stranger, and if you were around her for long, you'd likely be laughing until your sides hurt. Family was the heartbeat of her world. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by those she held dear, often bringing her own brand of humor and playful mischief into every gathering. She especially loved to tease and aggravate her son-in-law - a hobby that brought her as much joy as it did laughter to those watching. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was their biggest cheerleader, always reminding them that she was in their corner, no matter what life brought their way. Sissy was a spitfire - bold, brave, and beautifully unapologetic about who she was. She did things her way and left her mark on everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Though her time on earth feels far too short, the light and laughter she shared will never fade. As we remember Sissy, may her life remind us all to live more freely - to laugh a little louder, love a little deeper, and never be afraid to be exactly who we are. In her own way, she taught us that joy is a choice, and life is meant to be lived wide open, without fear or hesitation. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV) In addition to her mother, Mrs. Joann, Sissy's legacy continues to live on through her daughter, Leslie Estes (Brandon), one sister, Carol Rodgers, one brother, Pete Chunn (Sharon), three grandchildren, Harlie Madonna, Nash Estes, and Pax Estes, nephew, Brady Chunn (Ashley), and niece, Keely Hall (Dylan), along with a wide circle of friends and family. She is preceded in death by her father, Loyd Lee "Red" Chunn. New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care invites you to share memories with Sissy's family.
