Margaret Boyd Obituary
Margaret Sue Alford Boyd, 76, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at her home in Tupelo, MS. She was born on November 19, 1948, in Houston, MS to Curtis E. Alford and Marguerite Seale Alford. Sue grew up in Houston and graduated from Houston High School in 1967. She was married to Joe Randall (Randy) Boyd and they lived in Tupelo. Sue and Randy were proud parents to Christopher Ray Byars, Kevin Lann Byars, Anna Claire Byars, Joseph Brian Boyd, and Timothy Randall Boyd. In her early life in Houston, Sue worked for Franklin Manufacturing and Pep Industries. The Boyd's later lived in Tupelo and Fulton before moving to Cookeville, TN; Lancaster, PA; and then Starkville, MS. They moved back to Tupelo where they resided for the last five years of her life. Sue was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo. Sue's work career consisted of various Administrative Support positions in manufacturing and service industries, and then in Mortgage Loan processing in the banking field. She retired from Region's Bank in Starkville. Funeral services for Sue will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Houston Funeral Home in Houston, MS with Brother Rob Armstrong and Brother Terry Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 12:00 until 2:00 immediately preceding the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Houston Cemetery. Sue is survived by her children Christopher Ray Byars (Heather) of Chesapeake, VA; Kevin Lann Byars (Kristi) of Glenn, MS; Anna Claire Byars of Starkville, MS; Joseph Brian Boyd (Jennifer) of Phoenix, AZ; and Timothy Randall Boyd (Sallie) of Ringgold, GA; and 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Additional survivors are Barbara (Jim) Ladner of Madison, MS; Betty Neilson of Tupelo, MS; Curtis (Adelle) of Starkville, MS; Bill (Connie) Alford of Mobile, AL; and Mitch Alford of Houston, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and many special Aunts and Uncles. Pallbearers will be Joseph Boyd, Timothy Boyd, Hayden Byars, Jake Byars, Billie Boyd, and Joe Darryl Stephens. Chris Byars and Kevin Byars will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Gentiva Health Services in Tupelo for the excellent care they have provided during this period.
