Montez Ganss Obituary
Mrs. Montez Fulgham Ganss, 97, of West Point, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Montez was born on July 3, 1928, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Daniel Albert and Lorena Gosa Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Doyce Edwin Fulgham and Robert Emil Ganss, and a brother, Wayne Thompson. After attending Delta State University, she worked at Miller Brothers Dairy, Bank of West Point, and Pennebaker Concrete. Throughout her life, she embodied the qualities of a true southern lady. Those who knew her remember her as always properly dressed, sharp as a tack, full of laughter, and always ready for a good conversation or a trip. She valued time with loved ones and always remembered the birthdays of her family and friends. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, whether through kind acts, a listening ear, simple words of encouragement, or a home cooked treat. She lived a long and full life marked by grace, kindness, and a deep connection to those around her. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Point. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point with funeral services to follow at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Chad Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include one son, Dennis Fulgham of West Point: one step-son, Scott Murrah (Barbara) of Columbus: one granddaughter; Brooks Meeks of Memphis, Tennessee: four step-grandsons, Jeffery Murrah (Lori) of Brandon, Drew Murrah (Amy) of Collierville, Tennessee, Robert Clark (Leah) of Starkville, and Steve Clark (Kelly) of Crawford: one step-granddaughter, Stephanie Tindall (Kenny) of Hartford, Alabama: twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Randel Whitmire, Scott O'Brian, Robert Clark, Steve Clark, Houston Clark, Sam Clark, Drew Murrah, and Charlie Winfield. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Gentiva Hospice, her caregivers, Bettye Banks and Mary McClenton, and her many friends at First United Methodist Church in West Point.
