Reita Baker Obituary

Reita Faye Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at Bruce Community Living Center at the age of 86. She was born on November 13, 1938, in Philadelphia, MS, and was a lifelong resident of Vardaman, MS, known for her warm spirit and dedication to her family and community. Reita devoted much of her life to her work in the furniture industry, having retired from Franklin Corp. Her earlier years saw her contributing her talents to Kellwood and Astroline Lounger, where her hard work and determination were evident. Reita's passion extended beyond her professional life; she cherished her time spent cooking and canning vegetables, always eager to explore new recipes. Her love of cooking was matched only by her talent for sewing and creating outfits for her family that were infused with her love. A devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, Reita found joy in her church family and the fellowship they shared. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and community. She took great pride in her role as a matriarch, relishing the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory will live on through the countless cherished recipes she shared and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Reita is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa (Jamie) Jones of Vardaman, MS; son, Ricky (Gina) Baker of Big Creek, MS; grandchildren: Erica (Kenneth) Scott, Parker (Anonna) Baker, Grayce (Grant) Fugett, Jake Baker, Matt (Casey) Bollinger, and Colby (Haley) Bollinger; and her nine great-grandchildren: Tate Scott, Kyleigh Scott, Laden Scott, Everlee Baker, Baylee Ray Bollinger, Miller Finn, Easton Bollinger, Kenna Bess Bollinger and Ila Kathryn Bollinger. Reita was preceded in death by her father, Milton Lofton; her mother, Mary Della Thaggard Lofton; husband, Wilmer Davis Baker, sisters: Winnie Hawks and Louise Gray; great grandson: Oaklee Brasher, and a son in law, Jr. Sutherland. Funeral services for Reita Faye Baker will be held on August 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman, Mississippi with Bro. Michael Bishop officiating. Visitation will take place on the same day, beginning at 12:00 PM. Following the service, Reita will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery with James Baker, Stacy Hawks, Brandon Lee, William Lee Rogers, Tate Scott, and Laden Scott serving as pallbearers. As we reflect on her life, we celebrate Reita's unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and her profound impact on those she held dear. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Baker family during this difficult season of life.
